Breastfeeding Basics Group Class

Breastfeeding rate continue to rise as parents become more aware of the many benefits breastfeeding brings to the mother and baby.  And even though babies were born to breastfeed, there can be obstacles to breastfeeding.  With good information and assistance, breastfeeding can be a positive and beautiful relationship between mothers and babies.

Our breastfeeding classes will equip you with the tools you need to get you off to a good start.  The information will include: Benefits to breastfeeding, learning latch and positioning technique, how to establish an abundant milk supply,  signs of success and how to avoid and treat common breastfeeding concerns.  We will cover what to expect in the first few hours, first few days, and first few weeks of life.  We will answer any questions you might have.

Parents leave this class feeling more confident in their ability to nourish their newborn and to make informed feeding choices. This class may also be taken after the fifth month of pregnancy, prior to giving birth. The cost for this class is $45and includes your husband or partner, who is encouraged to attend.

We also offer Lactation Consultation Services.  

Private at-home consultations are available for $100 for the first visit, and $65 per hour for follow-up visits.

A consultation will involve an examination of mother and baby, which includes baby weight. A maternal, birth and infant history will be taken.  An assessment of the breastfeeding relationship will take place to determine if there are any issues to correct.   A plan will be established to assist you in achieving your breastfeeding goals.
