The Importance of Unplugging and Returning to Yourself
Some moments in life feel divinely orchestrated—where time seems to slow down, and your
soul whispers, "This is exactly where you’re meant to be." My recent journey to Boca Chica,
Panama, was one of those moments.
Nestled in a quiet coastal town just outside of David, I joined 12 incredible women for a soul-
nourishing retreat—an intentional pause from the busyness of life to reconnect with what truly
matters. It was more than just a getaway; it was a sacred space to unplug from the external
world and plug back into the internal one—our hearts, our breath, our truth.
For a few precious days, we gave ourselves permission to let go of the noise, the notifications,
the “should’s,” and the daily demands. In their place, we found ocean breezes, vibrant sunsets,
nourishing meals, deep sisterhood, and a sense of peace that only comes from being fully
present.
Unplugging isn’t just a luxury—it’s a lifeline.
In a world that thrives on urgency, choosing stillness is an act of rebellion and radical self-love.
We don’t always realize how much we’re carrying until we lay it down. This retreat reminded me
that healing often begins with silence, nature, and the company of kindred spirits.
Together, we explored the unknown, laughed until we cried, danced under the stars, and held
space for one another in the most loving and nonjudgmental way. We made friends with
uncertainty and walked through personal growth with courage. We created a container of trust,
vulnerability, and deep soul connection.
And perhaps most poignantly for me, this sacred space helped prepare my heart for what came
next. The day after I returned home, I had to say goodbye to my beloved cat Lulu after 20 years
of companionship. Somehow, I believe she waited for me to come back, to be wrapped in the
strength and love I had just received. The energy of the retreat sustains me now—its calm, its
grace, its deep affirmation that love surrounds us always, even in loss.
To the women who walked this path with me—Elli, Jenny, Sharron, Jane, Sarah, Jennifer,
Michelle, Colynn, and Mary —thank you.
Thank you for your presence, your openness, your laughter, and your light.
And to the amazing leaders, Susie, Christina, and Julie, who held space for all of us with such
wisdom and care—your gifts are beyond words.
Boca Chica will always hold a sacred piece of my heart.
If you’re feeling called to unplug, to step away from the chaos and back into your soul, don’t
wait. Find your space, your people, your breath. The transformation is waiting—and so is the
version of you that you’ve been longing to reconnect with.
With love and gratitude,
Annmarie

What a beautiful reflection Annmarie. You're right, unplugging isn't a luxury. It's a total necessity if we want to remain calm in the barrage of everyday life where we're more available than ever before. What a gift to create a sacred sanctuary to pause. Sending you and your beloved cat so much love.
